File support

Overview

Friday reads images and PDFs as input, so you can hand it a screenshot, a spec, or a report instead of retyping what's in them. Drag files from your file manager anywhere in the Friday window, or paste an image from your clipboard with Ctrl+V. Friday attaches them to your message.

Quick Start

Drag an image or PDF file from Finder (macOS) or your file manager anywhere in the Friday application window:

Friday will automatically detect the file path and process it.

Usage

Supported File Types

Friday supports the following file formats:

  • Images: JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF
  • Documents: PDF

Adding Files to Your Input

You can add files to your input in two ways:

Drag and Drop: When you drag a file anywhere in the Friday application window, the file path is automatically detected and inserted into your input with a placeholder like [Image 1], [PDF 1], etc. This works even when the input area is not focused, making it easy to add files at any time.

Clipboard Paste: Press Ctrl+V to paste an image directly from your clipboard and insert it into your input with a placeholder like [Image 1].

Multiple Files

You can include multiple files in a single message by dragging them one at a time:

or

[PDF 1] [PDF 2] Compare these two documents and highlight the changes

Each file is numbered sequentially and processed independently. You can also mix images and PDFs in the same message.

PDF page limit

A single message carries at most 600 PDF pages, counted across every PDF attached to it. Combining several long documents can cross that line.

Go over the limit and Friday says so inline, then drops the over-limit message from the conversation so the session keeps working. Attach fewer pages and send it again.
